Yay! New costume uploads! Please Full View!

This is (codename) Lightning from the new SquareEnix game Final Fantasy XIII. One in the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.
She has a morphing gunsword and electric gloves, plus she kicks ass! Just see the trailers if you don't believe me!

I am very proud of this costume because I learnt so many new skills for it's construction, here's a bit of a run down:

Leg Bag, Gloves, Straps and Boots: My good friend Peter taught me the art of leatherworking as he is an amazing artisan from Germany! They are all handmade from scratch and hand dyed. The ripple electric things on the gloves are barramundi leather, the silver straps are shark leather (the fish scales glisten naturally) everything else is bull and cow leather. Oh god the animals! And I'm vegetarian! >.<

The shoulder armour: Made from thick bull leather it was moulded into shape using the same technique/overlapping that traditional Japanese samurai armour uses for full flexibility yet strong protection.

Fabrics: The fabrics used were stretch cotton, denim (for the waist ceinture and skirt), woollen knit and moleskin. All straps were handmade from scratch.
Thanks heaps to ~Tsubaki-chan and ~yiji for helping me with the knit top..I love yous!

Wig: is from Japan, I think I could have styled the wig better, it was a bit of a rush job, but I am proud of how dead accurate the colour is to her hair in the trailer. It's a peach brown people!

All in all this costume gave me SO MUCH GRIEF! But I am happy and proud of how it turned out..it is definitely my most complicated costume I have done to date *shakes fist at SquareEnix*
I danced in it for our skit...twice..plus it's taken a lot of convention beating and it's very hardy and sturdy.
We won best group performance for Wai-con2007!! We danced to Everybody Backstreet's Back..there are various links on YouTube for it

Photography: The wonderful ~K-chan009 @ the Medina Hotel and round Perth City. K's idea was she wanted me to look like some kind of Guardian of the Crystals and the citadel.

That costume is so unbelievably sexy, as is of course, the lovely lady wearing it :heart: You looked amazing and those photos really show it off beautifully. Having seen it up close, I have to say how awed I am by all the work you put into it...real leather really does finish off a costume so well and authentically! *dreams of a real leather Orgy coat someday*

I'm so honoured and humbled to have been a part of such a talented and friendly cosplay group! Thanks so much, you guys are all made of WIN.

Oh man, I don't even want to think about the cost *dies* Though I did manage to pick up a tailored leather coat in Bali for AU$80, so maybe if you bought the leather from somewhere like that, it'd be cheaper...and that's really soft leather too, maybe sheep, or something? You'd probably have to put in more seams, as well, since leather rarely comes in large enough pieces to make some of the panels you'd need. x_X

Bah! You guys are far more advanced cosplayers than I am.

I know! Manifest is too far away. *pawcling* T_T
